Survey Explanation
|
In the classroom: The survey shows that students are provided with digital access in the classroom setting. Half of the teachers described this access ranging between most days and every day for all of their students. Currently, I would agree that the public school system I work with does provide appropriate digital access to their students for the majority of classes. All English and Social Studies classes have one-to-one Chromebooks every day whereas the Mathematics and Science classes share a cart. Once all classes have a daily cart students will have the best access to digital technology in the classroom.

In the community: When teachers were asked if students have appropriate digital access in their community, the results began to differ. About 67% of the teachers surveyed feel that only some students some days have digital access in their community while about 33% feel that every student most days have this access. Due to the vast range of socio-economic status in my school I would have to agree with these statements. Some students are very affluent and have multiple means of digital access whereas some students don't even have a home phone. This makes creating assignments that cannot be completed in class very difficult since there is a large difference in the access students receive at home on in their community.
